Festival Closes

The Victoria Tea Festival Organizing Committee has made the difficult decision to not proceed with the 2014 festival due to declining participation by tea sampling vendors and the risk of reduced funds raised for Camosun College Child Care Services, the cause behind the event.

We have had many faithful partners over the years and for that we are very appreciative. The declining participation of tea sampling vendors has been driven by economic challenges that the vendors have been faced with in the current marketplace and increasing competition in the tea industry. Consequently, as an event whose primary purpose is to be a fundraiser, we are concerned about the dilution of our brand and increasing financial risk. While we have continued interest in the festival by attendees, exhibitors, and volunteers, the festival must have “tea” exhibitors to be a tea festival and continue to raise funds for Camosun College Child Care Services.

There is much to celebrate and be grateful for over the last seven years. We are grateful for the generosity of sponsors, exhibitors, silent auction donors, presenters, volunteers, and attendees over the years!  Together, and to date, we have raised $161,000 for Camosun College Child Care Services and have helped both children and student families by providing bursaries and monies for much-needed playground equipment.
